If you are familiar with sideboarding it is like an extreme version of that. If you win a round, you have to keep using that deck while your opponent can switch to a new deck. Here it costs about $50 USD for the base game and 2 expansions, ($30 a few days ago during the fall sale, and I'm sure the same in a few weeks during the winter sale too).Ģ) "Netdecking" does occur in some of the formats, like in most every game in the genre, but in addition to draft mode, Faeria has a very cool constructed format called Crucible where players bring several decks to the match. I've played every major and most minor digital card games out there, and while overall I like the gameplay of Magic the best, thought Infinity Wars had the most interesting combat mechanics (simultaneous turns), and can see both the pros and cons of basically every other game in the genre (with the exception of the defunct Runescape Chronicles - that was just plain terrible), my point in recommending Faeria isn't that "is the best game!" but rather for anyone tired of the p2w/predatory monetization of every other game in the genre out there, Faeria is the only option to avoid that.ġ) Can't speak to the AUD pricing unfortunately. It has probably the most single player content of any digital CCG, as well as numerous multiplayer modes.Īs I said to another posting, whether the game has 300 or 300,000 active players doesn't matter, provided you can find matches. Matches never take more than a minute or two to find, even during odd hours. It is getting regular updates/content now. It isn't dead by any even semi-sensible criteria. Time will tell but I'm going to venture that this game does very, very well for Valve for the foreseeable future.įor the real haters, there's always Fallout 76 and Battlefield 5. No monetization model will ever, EVER please everybody, but this format doesn't seem to justify the complaints I've seen so far. Valve eliminates the extremes of catering to totally free players and complete whales and narrows the field to spending between 20 dollars to a few hundred. I get that there's no Free to Play grinder solution but I'm thinking Artifact is the best value I've seen in a major TCG so far. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, I would think that as the market becomes saturated as people play (it just launched FFS) card costs will lower. With ticket purchases and good play and/or being patient on the market, i bet a savvy player could get this cost down some. After opening my initial 10 packs, I calculated that a full set purchase right now is under $300. and didn't get anywhere near a full set in either game.
